"I would no longer be a mortal servant, a pet kept for sick entertainment. I had been chosen for initiation, to become one of the immortals…A vampire. My transition continued on far longer than any other, filling my body with a pain that was beyond the natural senses. After four days of writhing in the burning change I blacked out, and what woke in my place was not a vampire. It was in a word…Chaos."

No longer an average mortal Opsona warrior and far from a vampire, Serenity is an unnatural force that rivals anything found in the planes of the Underworld. An advantage that her master, Vondorian, uses in his quest to conquer the mortal world, while luring her into his bed with seductive promises. A flawless venture until the day she is struck down in battle.

Slain by a man with haunting greens eyes and hidden by shadows, Serenity has lived the last century of her immortal life with a nagging conscience. A lingering pest of a mortal voice conflicting with her vampire instincts, which only grows more unruly as Serenity and her master move to conquer the city of Tentusa. A small but important place nestled in a sacred valley, and Serenity's former home.

With the pull of her former life drawing out the mortal voice deep within, three centuries of loyalty between master and servant are put to the test. Serenity's disobedience grows stronger with each passing hour, and when a new stranger arrives things only grow more complicated. Which is stronger…Serenity's desires, the mortal voice, or the creature she fears within?

Cret is child of twisted fate looking for acceptance. Half Opsona, half demon. His demon father sees him only as an enemy, and his estranged Opsona brethren, protectors of the mortal world, use him for their own means.

In his need for Opsona approval he killed the woman he desired only to find she survived nearly a century later. Now he is face with an impossible decision. Kill Serenity and fall back into the hell of a world without her, or disobey his Opsona brethren and sentence himself to death.

Everything Cret has known, loved, and protected has fallen. Having failed his former teacher and master he is now faced with the aftermath of Serenity's rage, once she learns he was the one that struck her down in battle all those years ago.

The struggle between duty and heart has begun for Cret, and the innocent people of Tentusa are caught in the middle as the vampire armies arrive. Can Cret turn his back on Serenity, the woman that wants him dead, when she asks for his help?

"I had jumped so blindly as her request because it was Serenity asking, but could I trust her?" ~Cret~

Author Bio

I love dark, mysterious, and deviant. Powerful dominant alpha males with troubled pasts who find strong but unfulfilled submissive women. Both need to escape the "rules" of society (just like me... haha.) Together they make hot steamy delight and fill in each other's damaged parts. This is me. This is what I write. Hope you like it.

Interview

1. When did you first start writing?

As far back as I can remember. In grammar school, I was always writing stories. I analyzed TV shows and wrote sequels to episodes.

2. What inspired you to write?

For years, I stayed away from writing because somehow I ended up believing that nobody could make any money from it unless your name is Stephen King or James Patterson with movie deals.

Two things happened. First, I fell in love with a woman who I couldn’t be with. A friend suggested I write a story about her to get her out of my system. So I did.

At the same time, I found out that authors make money self-publishing on Kindle. So I put the story up, and got three sales of it the very first day. Then I focused on getting better, learned how to market books, and BOOM!...I had a new career.

As for the woman who inspired me, she has shown up as different characters in several of my series...until now. I think I’ve finally written her out of my system...lol. And no, as far as I know, she has no idea she was my inspiration.

3. Who are some of your biggest influences?

I grew up reading Robert B. Parker (the Spenser detective novels) and John D. MacDonald (the Travis McGee detective novels.) Their writing style influenced me heavily. The first chapter of THE STARK AFFAIR is very Parker-esque.

My favorite in recent years is the gone-too-young Vince Flynn, author of the Mitch Rapp CIA series.

But when I came to the erotic romance world, the one book that BLEW ME AWAY was STRINGS by Kendall Grey. The character Letty Dillinger’s potty-mouthed stream-of-consciousness “I-love-sex” style tainted me (in a good way) forever, I think.

4. Is there a special place you go and a certain mind frame you like to be in before you write?

I like to take my laptop outside and write. As for frame of mind, I leave that up to coffee. And then some coffee. And then some more coffee. And then...lol.

5. What's the most exciting thing that happened to you during your writing career?

The day I opened up KDP, looked at the numbers, shouted “Holy shit!” out loud, and realized I could quit my customer service job.

But even better than that, I love the fact that I can move people with nothing but my fingertips on a keyboard. One reviewer wrote that I made her cry. Now, I don’t like going around making people cry, but realizing that what I wrote touched her so deeply was a profound moment.

6. How do you come up with all the characters and different exciting plots?

Beats the hell out of me. Oh, wait, I know...drugs! No, just kidding. What’s funny is that it’s different every time. THE CAGE SESSIONS and FIFTY DAYS were both seat-of-my-pants. I started both off with a situation and then just followed the characters around waiting for stuff to happen...and a lot did.

I'm still not sure how a story about a girl stuck in traffic with a sex toy on her car seat turned into an epic about a tortured rock star, a controlling mother, a take-charge transsexual, and a heroin-addicted porn star. Nor how I finished it. (That was THE CAGE SESSIONS.)

For THE STARK AFFAIR and CAPITOL SUBMISSION, I planned everything out in advance...even though as I wrote a lot changed.

The idea for CAPITOL SUBMISSION came out of my obsession with the TV show SCANDAL. It’s way overdone, but Shonda Rhimes is a master plotter.

As for characters, some come from my warped mind, others inspired by people I know. Who? I’ll never tell wink emoticon

7. What authors have inspired you through your writing and how did they inspire you?

Like I said, Kendall Grey in STRINGS. Also Sky Corgan, who inspired me to learn about the marketing side of things in a very detailed and precise manner. If it wasn’t for Sky’s advice, I would never have had that “Holy shit!” day I described above. Roxy Sloane’s dirty-talking alpha males also inspired me to make my men more over-the-top masculine.

8. Do you have advice for any writer who's struggling right now?

Pay attention to the authors who are making money. Research the market. Be careful that you’re not writing stuff that YOU love but that doesn’t have a large enough following to make you any money.

Learn everyday. Stay on top of what’s happening in the industry. The whole game changes constantly. Like last year when Kindle Unlimited came out...fortunes were made while others quit the business. You have to adapt to the changes, go with the flow.

9. What's the silliest thing that you have ever experienced in your writing career?

Authors who compete. The way I look at life is win-win. I help other authors whenever I can. We’re all in this together. There is no need to one-up each other. There’s enough money to go around for all of us, even more if we work together and help each other out.

10. Could you share something extra that you would like your viewers to know about you are your writing?

I love my characters. Sometimes too much. When I was in the middle of THE CAGE SESSIONS, I got quite emotional because I was living their lives morning, noon, and night. Since then, I’ve learned to detach a bit more to keep my sanity.

Extra things your fans would like to know

SON OF A PREACHER MAN by Dusty Springfield
Sexiest song ever, in my opinion.

Your favorite book?

Oh too many to mention. THE GODWULF MANUSCRIPT by Robert B. Parker. THE DEEP BLUE GOOD-BY by John D. MacDonald. EXECUTIVE POWER by Vince Flynn.

Your favorite movie?

CASABLANCA.

“You’re going to get on that plane.” Best movie scene ever.

Your favorite food?

Your favorite thing to do?

Oh now, that’s a bit personal, don’t you think? LOL wink emoticon Although I write about it a lot.

 Shatter Me by Alex Grayson

Synopsis

I'm running, as fast and as far as I can. My past is trying to shatter me, but I am determined not to let it. I've come this far, I won't let it break me now.

I had to stop in a small town to get enough money to run again, but I found myself wanting to stay. The reason? Jaxon Walker. He doesn't make me so afraid. He comforts me. But how much comfort will it take before my walls shatter? And what happens when my past finds me? Will it destroy me finally or could Jax possibly save me?

My name is Bailey Winsor and this is my story.

My Review

Wow this book was amazing. The abuse and violence was so realistic along the lines of what people go through as well as over come. I know I'm an over comer. The triggers alone could take a lifetime to overcome but with good family support it happens. This book portrays that to preciseness that it's unreal. It's well written with a plot that has awesome twist that you would never see coming. Shatter Me has definitely made its name because not only is the character shattered but it leaves you feeling such empathy that you're a mess. Alex is phenomenal in grabbing the reader and sucking you in to the characters lives. She doesn't just show you what readers want to hear but also covers the hard parts of life that people have to overcome. To me it's such a healing tool because people that do relate can see beyond the hurt and picture a better tomorrow. It's both raw and emotional with a spice of sugar and cinnamon giving it a perfect balance. It's especially profound because this was Alex Grayson debut! Wow awesome Job Alex! You are one talented person!

The emotions run high through out the story putting you on that roller coaster of events in your mind. While this book is not for everyone, a person can see it as a way to a brighter side of things. The characters seem to create strong bonds with each other and lasting friendships and relationships that are few and far between.

Angel ,as Jaxon calls her, has experience the horror story of a lifetime not just childhood but on into adulthood, but develops strong will out of it and trust that she never thought she would have. Jaxon is the same in his own little world has experienced lost and pain. I didn't expect the end!

Wow this ending left me a blubbering mess lol. Lost is not new to me so I totally related to this. It is something that causes spurts of pain through a life time. This story shows what a good support system can do for you though.

Jaded Hollow is a special place that holds dear in your heart once you read this. It's not just a town but a family that creates a safe place for each to come too. Jaxon can protect me anytime lol. This is a book that's not just about abuse. That's just the story, it's about finding yourself and believing in something bigger the you are. Alex is an exceptional writer that has managed to pull me into to her world. I've read thousands of books and not many leave me such a mess but wanting more. I can say Alex Grayson has managed that. Way to go Alex! I'd read anything of yours lady!
